The Story

Forest Park, St. Louis, MO
( 10:00 - 1:00)

I was so excited about painting these flowering crabapple trees. Having caught a glimpse of them a few days earlier, I was just a tiny bit nervous about them holding onto their deep mauve blooms until my return. I honestly knew I shouldn’t have been the least bit concerned, but when I drove up, it was still a joy to see them at the top of the hill in their full regalia. I quickly loaded my painting gear and headed up the hill. The early morning drizzle had made the grass a bit slick, but the lingering mist and overcast skies created some wonderful atmospheric effects. Did I mention I was so excited to paint?
