The Story

Shaw Nature Reserve, Gray Summit, MO
( 1:30 - 2:30 )

It’s a little bit of a hike to reach the top of this hill. The view is worth the effort. Whether I looked up to this distant tree line, down into the area I had just hiked from or over at some closer trees and tall prairie grasses, it was all wonderful scenery. Flipping a coin on what to paint wouldn’t have made my decision making any easier. As I looked around, my eyes kept stopping at this tree line. After a few more look abouts, my choice was made. It helped that the best place to paint my scene was underneath a large tree. It looked like it could rain and being under one of nature’s umbrellas for protection was a definite plus. Temperatures in the low 80s.

u see snow in the painting,
it means the artist was standing
in snow.
If you see rain in the painting,
it means the artist was getting
very wet."
