The Story

Faust Park, Chesterfield, MO
( 2:00 - 2:30 )

Every time I paint these prairie grasses I can’t help but imagine how difficult it must have been for the early settlers to travel through wave after wave after wave of what probably seemed like an endless ocean of tall, thick and unyielding growth. It’s enjoyable to paint, but I really would hate having to walk even a hundred yards through the dense stuff. In fact, even if I stand on my tiptoes, my towering five foot, four inch height won’t allow me to see over the grassy walls of many mowed prairie trails. Mowed prairie trails, I’m sure those early travelers would have thought it was a dream come true.

u see snow in the painting,
it means the artist was standing
in snow.
If you see rain in the painting,
it means the artist was getting
very wet."
