The Story

Riverlands Way, West Alton, MO
( 12:45 - 3:15 )

It was another 90 plus degree day, but I had found a scene I enjoyed and some shade to paint it under. It really is amazing the difference a little shade can make on a warm day. I still put on sunscreen, I still had sweat dripping into my eyes but when I stepped out into the bright sun I could feel the heater kick on high. As my shade shifted, so did I and by the end of the painting I had traveled at least a few yards down the trail. It was a little inconvenient walking back to my original spot when I needed some detailing references, but today was more about heat relief than convenience.

u see snow in the painting,
it means the artist was standing
in snow.
If you see rain in the painting,
it means the artist was getting
very wet."
