The Story

Creve Coeur Park, Maryland Heights, MO
( 10:30 - 11:30 )

A prairie, with snow, with a barn - now this is a wonderful, late, winter scene. I’ve painted the barn several times, except from a different location. The previous day, I had noticed the barn from this vantage point and now I was chomping at the bit to start painting it. Besides, the morning had already experienced some drizzle and light rain was forecasted in the early afternoon. And, I didn’t want to miss my opportunity to capture this iconic scene. Because of the potential wet weather I painted small. I would have preferred a larger canvas, but “safer than sorry” out weighed “bigger is better.”

u see snow in the painting,
it means the artist was standing
in snow.
If you see rain in the painting,
it means the artist was getting
very wet."
