I promise that all paintings represented on this site as "plein air" paintings where completed 100% en plein air. I will not call an image "plein air" if it has received any studio touch up.
Why make this claim? Plein air painting is a very challenging process and because it is so difficult many landscape painters like to have that demanding title applied to their paintings. For an image to be considered "plein air", common thought is 75%-90% of the painting be completed on location. I believe that in order for any of my paintings to be truly "plein air" they must be completed 100% on location. No one would call any collectable "all original" if it had any percentage of restoration or enhancements applied to it. No one would call a blue sapphire "all natural" if it had any synthetic color enhancements applied to it. And so, I won't call any of my paintings "plein air" if there's been any studio enhancement applied to them. Titles such as "all original" and "all natural" are rare and bring prestige to an object. The same is true for a painting that carries the title "plein air."
All of my "plein air" paintings will be stamped with my guarantee.
